GN Solids Control is a worldwide famous
brand of mud solids control system, drilling waste management system, as well

This week, GN Solids Control China factory
finished a mud system for a domestic project. It is a 4-tank mud system for
750hp drilling rigs.

1) The 4 mud tanks of the 750hp rig mud
system are the same size with 40ft container. And the tanks are equipped with
3-runner oilfield skid. The oilfield skid is with 250mm at each tank ends. It makes
the tanks easy to movement at jobsites.

2) GN Solids Control equips 2 sets Solids control
linear motion shale shaker separator for the system. The system is equipped
with 2 each 3-panel shale shaker, model GNZS703E. It is the most popular shaker
models for oil and gas mud system from GN Solids Control.

3) In this system, the clients choose 1
desander separator and a desiler separator.

The desander model is GNZJ752-2S. It is
equipped with 2 ea 10’’ desander cone. Each 10’’ desander cone is with max. 120
m3/h (528GPM) handling capacity.

The desilter cone model is GNZJ752-12N. It
is equipped with 12 ea 4’’ desilter cone. Each 4’’ desilter cone is with max.
20 m3/h (88GPM) handling capacity. For totally 12 ea 4’’ desilter cone, the
desilter handling capacity can reach to 240m3/h (1056GPM).    

4) The 4-tank mud system is equipped with a
middle speed decanter centrifuge to recovery the barite and reduces the mud
weight. The centrifuge model is GNLW452. It is a most cost-effective big bowl
decanter centrifuge widely used in solids control mud systems for oil rigs.

5) And there are many mud agitators, mud
guns, lights, and pumps for the system.

This clients choose a separate jet mud mixing system. The jet mud mixing hopper
and mixing pump as well as control panel are all mounted in a separate oil field
design skid. It is easy to move it and work to different mud tank systems.

1) Vertical cuttings dryer GNCD930C and GNCD930C-VFD. It is mainly used to treat the oil based drilling cuttings (OBM). Performance is very good. The Vertical cuttings dryer can reduce the oil on cuttings to 3% ~ 5%. After VG dryer, the solid discharged is very dry. It is easy for movement by truck. In some countries, it can be discharged directly with such low OOC. If not, it can be removed to treat by thermal desorption unit. 

2) High G dryer (also called high G drying shaker). It utilizes high G force reach to 8.0G to dryer the cuttings. High G drying shaker is mainly used to separate water base mud cuttings. Water base mud is more difficult for separation. The main problem to treat WBM with VG dryer is that, the mud will block the screen basket, then it cannot separate any mud any more. High G dryer shaker can also be used to treat oil base mud. But it can only reduce oil on cuttings to 10 ~ 15%, it is not enough.
3) High speed decanter centrifuge GNLW363C and GNLW363C-VFD. It is 14 inch decanter centrifuge. 14’’ is the most popular size centrifuge used in oil and gas drilling field. Client can choose fixed speed control or variable frequency control. For the VFD control, GN offers PLC touch screen for smart control.
4) Big bowl decanter centrifuge GNLW553C-VFD. It is a big bowl big volume decanter centrifuge. It is with a 22 inch bowl. It is the biggest size from GN Solids Control. It can be used for waste management, for mud solids control, as well as chemical dosing system (dewatering unit).
5) Screw conveyer. GN offers different diameter and different length screw conveyer for drilling cuttings transfer. The auger diameter do GN Solids Control offer: 10’’, 12’’, 14’’, 16’’, and 18’’. GN make 12 ft as standard design for each section. Clients can choose 1 ~ 4 sections for 12 ft, 24 ft, 36 ft, and 48 ft. Clients can reduce or extend the length at jobsite when need.

All GN shaker deck is made from stainless stain for better anti-corrosion and long lifetime. 

2) Mud cleaner GNZJ703E-3S16N
The mud cleaner is the combination of a linear motion shale shaker GNZS703E, 3 × 10 inch desander cone and 16 × 4 inch desilter cones. The cone assembly is mounted on the shaker deck. It is user friendly design. If you do not want to use mud cleaner, you just remove the cone assembly parts and use it as a shale shaker.
3) Mud cleaner ZNZJ703E-16N.
It is the combination of shale shaker and desilter cone. The under flow shale shaker is GNZS703E. Normally clients choose underflow shale shaker the same with solids control shale shaker. For this mud cleaner, it is only 16 ea 4 inch desilter cone, no desander cone applied.

Oilfield screen shaker separator normally called oilfield shale shaker or screen separator. It is the first step solids control equipment used in oil field and other drilling activities. It is the necessary solids control equipment for mud systems, no matter for oil and gas drilling, HDD, CBM, TBM, or piling.

Per the motion type of screen shaker separator, there are linear motion screen shaker separator and balance elliptical motion screen shaker separator.  
Oilfield screen shaker separator is normally linear motion type. And linear motion screen shaker separator is the most popular and long history type. Linear motion is more reliable. It can suits more kinds of jobsite condition.
While Balance elliptical screen shaker separator is very limited with jobsite and mud condition. When there are big load of mud, or the mud fall onto screen shaker deck unequally, the motion will be damaged and the BEM shaker cannot be working well. Mud will be over flow.

Per shaker deck quantity, there are single deck screen shaker separator and double deck screen shaker separator. Double deck screen shaker separator can be used for scalping shaker separator. The top deck use coarse mesh screen for pre-separation, while the bottom deck use normal mesh wire screen per jobsite condition.

Per the difference of applications and G force, screen shaker separator can be divided into solids control screen shaker separator and drilling waste management high G screen shaker separator. Beside the application G force is different, for solids control screen shaker separator and drilling waste high G force screen shaker separator, the feeding type of the 2 screen shaker separator is also different.
Solids control screen shaker separator is normally use top type or back type weir feeder, or box feeder, while drilling waste screen shaker separator is use hopper feeding.
Solids Control screen shaker separator can be fed by slurry pump or fed directly from the rig manifold under gravity. While drilling waste screen shaker separator can be fed by screw conveyer or cuttings transfer pump.  

Drilling waste decanter centrifuge can be used together with Chemical enhance dewatering unit. We call it dewatering unit. The total system is normally put in a 20ft container or a 40ft container, per customers’ request.

Chemical enhance dewatering unit, frankly speaking, it is a mixing system for chemicals. Chemical can be mixing and storage in the system per the set conditions. And then the qualified chemicals can be transferred to decanter centrifuge feeding pipe and mixed with mud before center into centrifuge for treatment.

Some customer is wondering: the decanter centrifuge is used to separate the fine solids from drilling mud, why chemical enhance dewatering unit is need together? And in which condition, the chemical enhance dewatering unit is needed?
The reason is that, decanter centrifuge is a kind of physical separation. It applies high G force and the differential speed to separate fine solids above 2 ~ 5 microns from drilling mud. For the even more fine solids smaller than 2 ~ 5 microns, decanter centrifuge is not worktable. They will be left in the fluids after separation. If customer want to separate this part of the ultra fine solids and get more pure water, chemical treatment is requested.    
The function of the chemical enhance is to make the fine solids in a bigger size, in this case, decanter centrifuge can treat it.

Then customer have another question, how they get the chemicals? How should they know which kind of chemicals should be add? How much should be add? How long time should be wait? How long time for mixing with drilling mud? If they buy centrifuge dewatering unit from GN Solids Control, can GN company offer chemicals to them? …
Answers as below: The centrifuge manufacturer or dewatering unit manufacturer, they normally only make the machine, they do not supplier chemicals. There are chemical company for all the jobs. What you should do then is to find a reliable chemical supplier, send them samples of your materials, and tell them result you want to get, the chemical engineer will test and offer you the suitable chemicals and instruct you how to use it.
