Drilling Cuttings Re-injection (cri)

Cuttings Re-Injection (CRI) is an in situ method for the disposal of drill
cuttings and other drilling wastes into a sub-surface stratum.
Drill cuttings are slurrifi ed with water (fresh or sea water) and ground
down to a pre-determined particle size. The particle size is achieved by
passing through a shaker screen. Slurry of the correct particle size and
physical properties is injected via a pump, which is typically of a triplex
design, into the well head at a given pressure and down into the predetermined

sub-surface injection zone. Oversize particles from the shaker
are re-circulated for further grinding.

Desander & desilter

Mud recovery desander and desilter is the 2nd and 3rd stage solids control equipment used for drilling field.

Desander used followed with shale shaker. It usually use 1~3 eah desander cone sizing from 6’’ ~ 20’’ , depends on different applications.Desander can separate solids over 40 micrones.

Desilter used followed with desander. It usually mount 4~20 each desilter cone side from 2~5 inch. But 4’’ mostly used. It can be used to removed solids over 27 micrones.

A big or small shale shaker can be used under desander & desilter, then worked as mud cleaner. It can inscrease the separation performance of the whole machine.

Drilling cutting auger

Drilling cutting auger is one of the most important equipment for waste managment system.

There are usually at least 2 cutitng auger used for waste managment system. One is lay in level to collect drilling cuttings from solids control equipment, like shale shaker, mud cleaner, barite recovery centrifuge.

Another cutting screw auger usually lay in slant to collect drilling cuttings from the frist stage in level auger, and transfer it to waste treatment equipment, like high G shaker, High G dryer, or waste management centrifuge.

Shale shaker and centrifuge

The shale shaker is the only solids control device that makes a separation based on the physical size of the particle. The separation size is dictated by the opening sizes in the shaker screens.Per different drilling mud situation, shale shaker usually use shaker screen vary from API20 to API 325.

Hydrocyclones and centrifuges separate solids based on differences between their relative mass and the fluid. Different speed used per different applicaiton.

G force of shale shaker

An acceleration of one “G” is the standard acceleration due to gravity
(386 in./sec2).

Most shakers operate at accelerations within the range of 2.5-7.0 G’s, depending upon the vibration pattern. Field experience has shown this range offers the best compromise between throughput capacity and screen life.

Some shakers have adjustable counterweights to vary acceleration.
Although flow capacity and cuttings dryness improves with increased
acceleration, screen life is negatively affected. By reducing the “G”s
when extra flow capacity is available, screen life may be improved.
