Drilling waste decanter centrifuge can be used together with Chemical enhance dewatering unit. We call it dewatering unit. The total system is normally put in a 20ft container or a 40ft container, per customers’ request.

Chemical enhance dewatering unit, frankly speaking, it is a mixing system for chemicals. Chemical can be mixing and storage in the system per the set conditions. And then the qualified chemicals can be transferred to decanter centrifuge feeding pipe and mixed with mud before center into centrifuge for treatment.

Some customer is wondering: the decanter centrifuge is used to separate the fine solids from drilling mud, why chemical enhance dewatering unit is need together? And in which condition, the chemical enhance dewatering unit is needed?
The reason is that, decanter centrifuge is a kind of physical separation. It applies high G force and the differential speed to separate fine solids above 2 ~ 5 microns from drilling mud. For the even more fine solids smaller than 2 ~ 5 microns, decanter centrifuge is not worktable. They will be left in the fluids after separation. If customer want to separate this part of the ultra fine solids and get more pure water, chemical treatment is requested.    
The function of the chemical enhance is to make the fine solids in a bigger size, in this case, decanter centrifuge can treat it.

Then customer have another question, how they get the chemicals? How should they know which kind of chemicals should be add? How much should be add? How long time should be wait? How long time for mixing with drilling mud? If they buy centrifuge dewatering unit from GN Solids Control, can GN company offer chemicals to them? …
Answers as below: The centrifuge manufacturer or dewatering unit manufacturer, they normally only make the machine, they do not supplier chemicals. There are chemical company for all the jobs. What you should do then is to find a reliable chemical supplier, send them samples of your materials, and tell them result you want to get, the chemical engineer will test and offer you the suitable chemicals and instruct you how to use it.

For normal design shale shaker, the clean
fluids discharged from the bottom of shale shaker. Fluids side discharge shale
shaker is a kind of shale shaker that the clean fluids after separation will be
discharged from both side of the shale shaker. It is widely used in many
countries, like Iran, UAE, Nigeria, Brazil, Argentina, etc…

Features of Fluids side discharge shale
shaker

For normal shale shaker, the fluids can only
be discharged to the tank under the shale shaker. Customs should use pump if
they want to transfer mud from shaker tank to other tanks. In case there are
heavy mud settle at the tank bottom, the shaker should be stop for tank
cleaning.

With side discharge shale shaker, the fluids
can be discharged from both side of the shaker deck, jobsite people can use
trough to lead the fluids to other tanks or other place, no need extra pump.

why need Fluids side discharge shale shaker

For example, during well cementation jobs,
operators will inject cement to the rig hole to reinforce the well wall, new
drilling fluids in need in this process, but there are still drilling fluids in
the well hole. With Fluids side discharge shale shaker, fluids from shaker can
be leaded to other place or other systems for treatment, rather than fall down
to the shaker tank.

Desander & Desilter mud cleaner: Shale
shaker is the 1rst stage solids control equipment. After shale shaker, the
fluids will be transfer to desander or desilter separation by centrifugal pump.

Barite recovery decanter centrifuge: it is
the application of middle speed decanter centrifuge to recovery barite from
solids control system, and the recovered barite can be reused in the system.

Jet mud mixing system: it is used to mixing
new drilling mud. And barite recovered from decanter centrifuge also added to
the hopper of jet mud mixer and come to the system again.

Pumps: Different feeding pumps for desander,
desilter and decanter centrifugal, mixing pump, trip pump, charging pump, etc…

Shale shaker is the first stage solids control equipment in drilling rig mud system. It is the necessary equipment for mud solids control. According to the motion type generated by vibrating motor, there are linear motion shale shaker and balanced elliptical motion shale shaker. While linear motion shale shaker is more widely used as it can suits a wider range application and it is workable even with big handling capacity.

Rubber sealing for linear motion shale shaker in drilling mud system

Rubber sealing is an essential part for shale shaker performance. It is the rubber used between shale shaker deck and shale shaker screen.

1) The rubber can seal the shaker deck and shaker screen better. It can prevent the shale shaker leakage.

2) The rubber sealing can extend shaker screen lifetime and protection shaker deck from worn out. The shaker deck and shaker screen frame are both made from metal. If there is no rubber between them, the metal touched each other directly and vibrating under high G force. It will generate big noise and the screen and shaker deck will be damaged soon.

Other features affect linear motion shale shaker lifetime and performance

Besides rubber sealing, there are other features that will affect the shale shaker lifetime. It includes but not limited to following:

1) The materials of shaker deck. Stainless steel can surely stand longer than carbon steel

2) Suitable shaker deck angle can enable the mud move forward shaker deck more fluently and get a longer lifetime of the shaker screen.

3) Suitable G force. If the G force is too small. The mud cannot separate well and then overflowed. It is a waste. If the G force too big, one side, it may damage the drill mud contend, another side, big G force will shorten shaker screen lifetime.

Working principal of VFD decanter centrifuge:

GN use Netzsch Brand NEMO pump to feed the drilling mud into the feed tube and flow to the centrifuge bowl, the bowl rotates high speed under , the screw conveyor, which is inside the bowl ,get a differential speed through the gearbox. The bowl and conveyor compose the pulley and belt with the differential speed and rotates in the same direction.

Under the working of different centrifugal force , the heavier solids paticles is pushed to the inner bowl and pushed theought the screw to the solids discharge port, the lighter weight fluids is settle down and discharged through the fluids output port, which with 6pcs adjustable dams to adjust the fluids pond depth inside the centrifuge bow.

Viriable frequency drive decanter centrifuge can adjust the screw rotary speed to achieve different working purpose. For example, when start the centrifuge, firstly you start it with a low frequency to get a lower electric currency to protect the VFD control panle, when it works stably, you can adjust the frequency to your required data to get your required performance. For the drilling mud with high gravity solids, 2500rpm rotation speed is required; for the drilling fluids with low gravity solids, 3200rpm is recommend. To collect the barite, 1800rpm is recommend. But such recommendation is just for oil & gas drilling, not inludes food, waste water, etc.

In which system GNZS594 –panel drying shaker can be used

1) Water based mud drilling cuttings treatment. It is used as a dryer to drying the OBM cuttings. The fluids phase will be further treated by decanter centrifuge with high speed.

2) In some cases, GNZS594 –panel drying shaker can also be used to treat oil based drilling cuttings, as an alternative of vertical cuttings dryer. But it cannot separate as dryer as vertical cuttings dryer.

3) When reduce the G force (normally around 6.0 G ~ 7.0 G )and change the feeding type, it can be used as a normal mud solids control shale shaker at mud cleaning system.
