Oilfield screen shaker separator normally called oilfield shale shaker or screen separator. It is the first step solids control equipment used in oil field and other drilling activities. It is the necessary solids control equipment for mud systems, no matter for oil and gas drilling, HDD, CBM, TBM, or piling.

Per the motion type of screen shaker separator, there are linear motion screen shaker separator and balance elliptical motion screen shaker separator.  
Oilfield screen shaker separator is normally linear motion type. And linear motion screen shaker separator is the most popular and long history type. Linear motion is more reliable. It can suits more kinds of jobsite condition.
While Balance elliptical screen shaker separator is very limited with jobsite and mud condition. When there are big load of mud, or the mud fall onto screen shaker deck unequally, the motion will be damaged and the BEM shaker cannot be working well. Mud will be over flow.

Per shaker deck quantity, there are single deck screen shaker separator and double deck screen shaker separator. Double deck screen shaker separator can be used for scalping shaker separator. The top deck use coarse mesh screen for pre-separation, while the bottom deck use normal mesh wire screen per jobsite condition.

Per the difference of applications and G force, screen shaker separator can be divided into solids control screen shaker separator and drilling waste management high G screen shaker separator. Beside the application G force is different, for solids control screen shaker separator and drilling waste high G force screen shaker separator, the feeding type of the 2 screen shaker separator is also different.
Solids control screen shaker separator is normally use top type or back type weir feeder, or box feeder, while drilling waste screen shaker separator is use hopper feeding.
Solids Control screen shaker separator can be fed by slurry pump or fed directly from the rig manifold under gravity. While drilling waste screen shaker separator can be fed by screw conveyer or cuttings transfer pump.  

500bbls tanks is a common size mud tank for oil and gas drilling rigs. I can be used for mud mixing or mud storage. For HDD or CBM drilling, they normally do not use such big size mud tank.

Mud tank usable capacity: 500 bbls approx.

Compartment quantity: the 500bbls mud tank can be divided into 1~3 compartments (Depends on customer request.). Capacity of each compartment: 250 bbls approx.

Electrical mud agitator model GNJBQ150-DD, with 36" impeller, 2-layer impeller. 20 HP driving motor, 460V – 60 HZ, RPM 1750 or 380V – 50 HZ, RPM 1450.

Sufficient agitation to mix up 17 ppg mud. Bottom mud guns installed quantity – 4 each. Bottom mud guns installed size 2 in, model GNNJQ50A-3G, 3-nozzle mud gun.  

6" suction and 4" discharge line on either end of the tank with female cam lock connection to other tanks.  4" drain line with butterfly valve – 2, 8" Equalizing valve between compartments- qty 2~3. Depends on compartment quantity.

Inside a solids control system, desander may be the second stage equipment, which removes solids particle size 40-100 nm from drilling liquids. Then your next is desilter getting rid of particle size 16-50nm from drilling liquids. While, cone(also called hydrocyclone) may be the functioning part for desander and desilter. Based on the size cone diameter, cones are called desander cones having a the diameter over 6’’ so that as desilter cones having a diameter under 6’’. Generally, 8’’ and 10’’ cones are generally utilized as desanders 4’’ and 5’’ cones are often utilized as desilters.

In normal operation, feed slurry needs tangentially in to the interior from the cone inside a high-speed, leading to whirlpool effects within the cone. The swirling motion from the slurry drives the bigger and denser contaminants outward from the cone wall for the lower discharge port, as the more compact, lighter contaminants move towards the middle of the cone and venture out with the upper discharge port. The separation of solids from drilling liquids is completed.

Features of fixed speed control centrifuge

As the bowl speed and conveyer speed is fixed, cannot be changed, fixed speed control centrifuge is easy for operation and maintenance. And price lower compared with the same model VFD centrifuge.

Feature of variable speed control (VFD) decanter centrifuge

For the same model centrifuge decanter, VFD model cost more than fixed speed. Per International Explosion-proof standard, there should be positive pressured control panel for variable speed control for better cooling. It requests more professional on operators for the VFD decanter centrifuge.

For GN design VFD centrifuge, the bowl speed, conveyer speed and feeding pump flow are all flexible. Customer can change one or all of the 3 parameters to get the best separation performance in different jobsite. An and customer can change centrifuge parameter for getting the max. capacity centrifuge can reach.

Take GNLW363BG-VFD centrifuge for example, below steps show you how to find out the max. capacity of the centrifuge

1) For a bigger capacity, we should reduce the BOWL speed and increase CONVEYOR speed.

BOWL SPEED: 2000RPM

CONVEYOR SPEED: 40RPM

Pump running model set as AUTO

Then pump will running to the max. capacity it can reach.

2) Or you can try more settings to compare the capacity, with pump AUTO running:

a. Bowl 1600rpm, Conveyer 34rpm

b. Bowl 1800rpm, Conveyer 38rpm

3) The back drive motor is opposite rotating under low speed and high conveyer. If centrifuge shut down during running , reduce Conveyer speed.

4) For this centrifuge, the max. capacity will be not over 30cbm. As the pump max. capacity is 30cbm.
