Shale shaker is the first stage solids control equipment in drilling rig mud system. It is the necessary equipment for mud solids control. According to the motion type generated by vibrating motor, there are linear motion shale shaker and balanced elliptical motion shale shaker. While linear motion shale shaker is more widely used as it can suits a wider range application and it is workable even with big handling capacity.

Rubber sealing for linear motion shale shaker in drilling mud system

Rubber sealing is an essential part for shale shaker performance. It is the rubber used between shale shaker deck and shale shaker screen.

1) The rubber can seal the shaker deck and shaker screen better. It can prevent the shale shaker leakage.

2) The rubber sealing can extend shaker screen lifetime and protection shaker deck from worn out. The shaker deck and shaker screen frame are both made from metal. If there is no rubber between them, the metal touched each other directly and vibrating under high G force. It will generate big noise and the screen and shaker deck will be damaged soon.

Other features affect linear motion shale shaker lifetime and performance

Besides rubber sealing, there are other features that will affect the shale shaker lifetime. It includes but not limited to following:

1) The materials of shaker deck. Stainless steel can surely stand longer than carbon steel

2) Suitable shaker deck angle can enable the mud move forward shaker deck more fluently and get a longer lifetime of the shaker screen.

3) Suitable G force. If the G force is too small. The mud cannot separate well and then overflowed. It is a waste. If the G force too big, one side, it may damage the drill mud contend, another side, big G force will shorten shaker screen lifetime.  

4) Reliable brand vibrating motor and strong enough design for shaker wall

What is Geothermal drilling

Geothermal drilling is used for geothermal steam and hot water well drilling. It is a special technology and necessary method for the exploration, exploitation of geothermal fluid.

For the high temperature geothermal drilling, drilling depth is generally 500 meters to 2000 meters, a little more than 2000 meters, mostly in 600 ~ 900 meters. Regariding to the conduction type geothermal field at low temperature, the average depth is 1800 meters, while the geopressured geothermal drilling can reach to 6000 meters depth.

Features of mud recycling system for Geothermal drilling

1) As the temperature of Geothermal drilling is normally higher. There should be mud cooler before mud recycling system and after mud comes out from well head.

2) There should be galvanized grating to cover the tank tops for a better heat-radiation. Checkered plate is not recommended for Geothermal drilling mud recycling system. The heat cannot come out well in this condition.

3) Normally, there is only desander cone in the mud recyclone system. Desilter cone is not used.

4) As the mud temperature is higher, PU hydraocyclone is not suitable for Geothermal drilling mud recycling system, while cast iron cyclones should be used.

5) And in some cases, geothermal drilling rig platform is low, it means the flow height from drilling rig to shale shaker is lower. It gives strict limitation on shaker tank design.

  • Many big oilfield service companies like Halliburton and Baker Huges are discussing with our company to work together for the drilling waste management equipment. GN have good business with big international companies like them.

TBM is Tunnel boring machine, it is similar to piling. It is widely used for municipal construction, like subway, tunnel, etc… There are high content coarse rock particles generated during the process. It does not have high standard for mud quantity. No need separate to very small size. It request big capacity for a rough separation, like 120m3/h or 240m3/h mud systm.

It is compact mud system with double deck shale shaker, and desander hydra cyclone above the shale shaker to used as a combination of mud cleaner. 10’’ Desander cone quantity varies from 1 ~2 for different capacity (120 CBM or 240 CBM). TBM mud system use steel frame screen (e.g. 0.3mm, 0.5mm, etc…) and desander cone. Desilter normally is not used in TBM drilling mud system.

CBM (Coal Bed Methane) is more and more widely used. As natural gas as a clean energy type become more and more polular.

CBM (Coal Bed Methane) mud system is similar to HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling). Compared with TBM and piling, it has a higher request on mud quality.

In which system GNZS594 –panel drying shaker can be used

1) Water based mud drilling cuttings treatment. It is used as a dryer to drying the OBM cuttings. The fluids phase will be further treated by decanter centrifuge with high speed.

2) In some cases, GNZS594 –panel drying shaker can also be used to treat oil based drilling cuttings, as an alternative of vertical cuttings dryer. But it cannot separate as dryer as vertical cuttings dryer.

3) When reduce the G force (normally around 6.0 G ~ 7.0 G )and change the feeding type, it can be used as a normal mud solids control shale shaker at mud cleaning system.
